Taking Root and Growing
They wanted the best of both: academic rigor and Christian teaching.
Faced with schools that gave their children only one or the other, a group of parents and professionals decided to establish Liberty Classical Academy. Inspired by the proven results of similar schools across the country, Liberty's founders opened the doors in August 2003 to the northeast Twin Cities' only classical Christian college-preparatory school.
Starting with a K-8th grade program, the school grew intentionally, with quality in mind, adding one upper grade at a time. Finally, in 2008, the school completed its program by opening a preschool and graduating its first senior class.
Liberty now boasts one of the few programs where the scope has been carefully planned and coordinated for the entire 13-year sequence!
Nurturing a Strong Future
From the beginning, parents have enthusiastically participated in the school's annual tuition assistance fundraiser, the LCA Golf Classic, an average of $85,000 per year. This amazing group effort shows how much Liberty parents believe in the school -- they're willing to raise money just so other families can be blessed as well. Academically, the students are thriving. Since 2004, our Latin scholars have earned honors in the National Latin Exam. In 2007-08, Liberty announced its first National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist. In 2008-09, another student was a Commended National Merit Scholar. The graduating seniors of 2009 were offered an average of $30,000 in scholarships each, and were accepted to a long list of respected colleges nationwide.
Managed by a board of committed parents, business professionals and academics, Liberty guards its mission carefully, undergoes annual audits for financial oversight, and is planning for an exciting, fruitful future. Here are just some of our Hopes and Dreams.
